Week 3 | Sugar

This week I fasted from SUGAR. The week before, Brandon and I watched a few documentaries about sugar: That Sugar Film and Fed Up. I could not believe how detrimental sugar is to our bodies. We have become motivated to try and cut out as much sugar as we can.

The tricky part is that nearly every food label contains sugar. That means we need to eat whole foods and homemade foods as much as possible and it is hard to do with 3 little kids. It's gross how the foods you think are healthy are actually packed with sugar.

We didn't go crazy this week, but cut out all treats and candy and tried to limit a lot of starches. We had a sleepover at Justin and Katie's house and I did have a small bowl of ice cream. So I wasn't 100%, but much better than I've been the past year.

I don't have much self-control when it comes to sugar and I'm hoping that I can get better. If there are cookies in front of me, I can't just stop at 1. I'll eat them until they are gone. I'm going to try this fast another week for another week until it becomes a strong thing.

Week 2 | Complaining

I read a blog article last week that inspired my fast this week. This lady noticed that STOP complaining made her a more happy mom. She realized that complaining to her husband about a rough day didn't ever help the situation. That didn't mean she wouldn't tell him about it, but complaining never solved the problem.

This past week I fasted from complaining. That isn't to say I was 100% perfect at it, but I was a lot better. I tried to be more conscience of my attitude and complain less. And it did help me feel happier.

Week 1 | Instagram

This week I decided to fast from Instagram. I LOVE Instagram, but sometimes I feel down after looking on it. I don't like comparing myself good or bad after looking on it.

Throughout the week, I noticed how many times I would have picked up my phone and checked Instagram. It was shocking! I realized that when I didn't pick up my phone to check Instagram I felt more productive. I also more present in my kids lives and my own.

I definitely want to do another fast from Instagram sometime. It is refreshing to live life my way and not be influenced by what I see others doing.
